Glow Up Prototype 4

Welcome to the fourth prototype for the tabletop game Glow Up. A game by Alexander Heppner, Jonah Howell, Ella Mack, Tyler McGrew, Tony McNeil, and Cameron Willis.
Summary of Findings From Our Third Playtest
- For the most part the adjusted trend cards worked out great. Having simpler more grounded prompts kept the flow of design moving nicely. In fact, many of the times players found themselves finishing their designs before the round was over. This never happened with the original more wacky trend cards. Before players would generally never be able to finish their designs on time. For now the game uses three-minute rounds, but we may be able to shorten that and lessen play time.
- The new mishap cards were well received. Having mishap cards that were simpler in their conditions continued to keep the game flowing smoothly. It does seem like there may be too many cards which target the player with the most stars. We will probably cut a few of those and add different cards in their place.
- Adding titles to the Mishap and Trend Cards immediately resonated with the players. Not only did players find it to be a fun addition, it also added to the players understanding of the prompt.
- With all of the adjustments made to the design of the Trend and Mishap Cards the game had a much different pace. This spawned the idea of having bonus points allocated to players who achieved certain goals during a round. With the simpler Trend Cards there were several times that players finished their designs under three minutes. Could potentially add a an end of round bonus to a player that finishes their design with a minute or more left in the round. Another result if the simpler designs is that players were able to use only previously used materials in their next design. This embodies Glow Ups message of reuse and recycle and it would be nice to award a player for this effort. Adding an end of round bonus for players who design their outfit using only previously used materials may also be something to implement. For now these were the two ideas we had based on this playtest, but we will try to think of more potential end round bonuses.

After three rounds, each player will count up the total number of star tokens they have received. The player(s) with the most star tokens win the game.
Art for Print and Play
We have started working on the art for the print and play version of the game. Art isn't final but we have a starting point for the bakcs of the Trend and Mishap cards, start tokens, and mannequin punchouts. Next we will work on the design of the box.
